Book Review: The Greek Villa by Sue Roberts
Fun fact: as I sat down to write this book review, I thought I should revisit my book review for Under the Tuscan Sun–while there are quite a few differences between the two books (mostly fiction vs. nonfiction and Greece vs. Italy), the vibes are similar so I was curious to see what I said about Under the Tuscan Sun and I had to laugh because many of the things I wrote about that book are things I want to write about this book.

The biggest thing the two books have in common? They both make me want to leave behind the busy traffic-filled city with a non-stop schedule (uggh, work) and head off to somewhere warm and sunny to live in a Mediterranean home of my own where I spend my time walking to the market, visiting with my neighbors, and drinking wine. (I guess I don’t need a book to make me feel that way, but these two books certainly bring those feelings to the forefront.)

The Greek Villa is actually the eleventh book in a Summer Romance series by Sue Roberts, but it is a standalone book and you certainly don’t need to read the rest (though they are all fun quick summer romances set in Greece, so why wouldn’t you want to?).
In this book, we meet Claudia a single British woman in her mid-thirties living a pretty normal life in London–she goes out with friends, she loves her family, she occasionally travels (and she especially loves Greece), and she works at a job that is fine and pays the bills.
When her Uncle Jack passes away, Claudia makes a somewhat rash decision to use her inheritance to purchase a villa on her favorite Greek island…without seeing it in person.

Unfortunately, it isn’t quite the dream house she thought it was…fortunately there’s a pretty good-looking Greek builder to help her figure it out. (I mean…that *might* be another dream of mine, too.)
Overall, The Greek Villa is a quick sweet read that will certainly transport you to Greece. I highly recommend stocking up on white wine, olives, spanikopita, baklava, or your favorite Greek food of choice and picking up this book for a fun little adventure this summer.
