My (not-so) secret go-to genre when I’m looking for an easy entertaining story is cozy mysteries–they have light fast-paced plots, likeable characters, and a (hopefully) well-developed interesting destination. So when the Miss Fortune series came on my radar, I knew it was one I wanted to try–and it didn’t disappoint with all the fun things I enjoy in a cozy.
Agent Fortune Redding, on a forced break from the CIA, finds herself in Sinful, Louisiana, where she quickly learns that small does not equal peaceful. She and her new friends (who knew sweet old ladies had so much up their sleeve?) find themselves on an unexpected search for answers when a bone is found in Fortune’s new backyard.
As hoped for, Louisiana Longshot provides a fun story with some twists and turns, engaging characters, and you get the feel of a small bayou town. The audio version keeps your attention and goes quickly.
As of this writing, there are sixteen more books in the Miss Fortune series and I am looking forward to catching up with the characters (and revisiting Louisiana) in the next few books.
