Travel Books and Movies publishes book reviews, movie reviews, and general interest articles related to “travel reading, writing, and watching.”  While we certainly appreciate factual travel books and movies such as guidebooks and travel TV shows (seriously, what would we travelers do without Frommer’s, Fodor’s and Rick Steves?), our interest lies in books and movies with a story to tell.

We are always looking for more content.  Unfortunately, however, we are currently unable to provide any compensation for contributors, however writer’s retain all rights to their writings and are free to publish them elsewhere.  If another publisher has asked for exclusive rights to a piece already published on Travel Books and Movies, please contact us and we will remove the content and link to the new location (see section below on links to previously published pieces).

If you are not a writer, but have a specific book, movie, or product you think would fit well with our site, please request a review.  We also accept submissions from authors and publishers, however, we do not guarantee inclusion of these submissions.

If you run a travel book or movie club and would like to be listed on our site, please contact us and send the following information: Name of Club, City/State, Organizer Name, Organizer Contact Info, Website.

Submissions

We are currently looking for submissions in the following categories:

Book and Movie Reviews—critical reviews of travel books and movies (not book reports)

Reading, Writing, Watching Articles—articles relating to travel reading, travel writing, or travel watching (such as reviews of e-readers, tips on travel writing, or how to host a movie screening)

Personal Stories—personal memoir stories related to travel books and movies, such as how a book inspired a recent vacation, the attempts you made at capturing the exact picture you saw in a movie, or something similar

Travel Ideas for Book Lovers/Movie Lovers–articles on destinations related to authors, books, or movies (such as author’s homes, movie theme parks, etc.)

Proposal

Please first submit a brief proposal (1-2 sentences is fine) to Travel Books and Movies so that we can work with you on developing a piece that we are interested in.  Here is how you can contact us.

As we are still building the content of our website, we are currently willing to link to pieces published on other websites.  However, we do ask for an original approximately 150-word “intro” to be published here.  Please also include the information required below.

How to Submit

After a proposal is approved, please e-mail your piece to us (travelbooksandmovies@hotmail.com) IN THE BODY OF THE E-MAIL with the following information:

For all pieces

• Your name
• Your e-mail address (this is only for us to contact you, your e-mail address will not be published)
• A 2-3 sentence bio with a link to your website if you would like
• Which categories apply to your piece (see a list of categories to the left)

• 13-digit ISBN number (a 10-digit ISBN is accepted if necessary)
